Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Perfect location to access Gooseberry Mesa and Hurricane trails for mountain biking. Cute and nicely decorated. WIFI works great. The heating and A/C worked great. Easy check-in/out. Responsive owners.

Negative: Where do I begin? The stairs to get to the loft bed were ridiculous. I can't even imagine that it is legal for a rental to consider these a viable option to reach the main sleeping area of the house - super steep, small, high steps, no handrail- navigating these in the middle of the night was downright dangerous. Don't plan on sleeping in the upstairs loft bed if you are over 5'5", you will have to crouch down and will be constantly hitting your head on the ceiling. My husband had to sleep on the downstairs "bed" which was just a hard cheap couch with a seam down the middle, sheets that didn't fit, and no pillows. The water pressure was non-existent, barely strong enough to take a shower, and literally trickled out. The bathroom sink was unusable -when you turn the water on even slightly, it sprays out horizontally and gets your clothes wet. I chose this place as it had outdoor space, but you are right on the highway, and the traffic noise was really loud, could not sleep with the windows open because of the highway noise. Of the 3 pans they provided, only one worked because they had copper bottoms and the hot plate would not work with them. I feel that owners of a rental property should try living in their rental for a week to see how functional it is. The owners claimed to be trying to reduce their carbon footprint - however, there is nowhere to put your recycling, and no water filter, which means you need to purchase plastic bottles as the house uses well water. I could go on but will spare you the mundane. Cut the price in half and I can see this being a glamping option.
