Relaxing, cool one bedroom apartment that's nestled in the heart of LA. Located in historic Leimert Park, you will enjoy the beauty of our tree lined streets, the urban energy, food trucks, drum circles, outdoor community events, and great food while just a short trip to everywhere!
You'll feel right at home in this bright and inviting space. The decor expresses a subtle modern twist in a vintage 1940's building. It has most basic things you will need during a short stay. For your convenience, I keep a few bottles of water in the fridge to refresh yourself upon your journey here.
This is a four unit building that houses 4 apartments. My completely new and remodeled space is cozy yet spacious. Brand new appliances and fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom make this historic unit a modern charmer you just have to see. California weather is so great, we are pretty comfortable inside year round but depending on the season, the nights cang get cool and the days can get really hot.
There is a Smart TV in the living room so programming is on demand through Netflix, Hulu+, or Amazon Prime. There is no standard cable as most guests don't watch it, but who needs that now days with such great streaming apps? Log into your own account and enjoy your favorite programming like you do at home. Don't forget to log out of your apps when you return home!!

Hollywood abounds here! So, I am open to filming in the space with small crews. Just tell me about your project and I can give you rates. If you have a film project and need multiple locations but in one spot, this may work well for you. Also, small meetings and gatherings may be held in the space as well. If you need catering or food delivery, I have a couple of resources to refer.
This place is meant to be enjoyed, for you to relax and kick your feet up and feel at home while you are away from home. We are in an urban area and just a short distance to some of Leimert Park's historic merchants and performance venues. I invite you to partake in the culture, energy, and sounds that make our neighborhood one of LA's best kept secrets. You are most welcome and I look forward to you coming!!
Guests will have access to the entire apartment. There are four units here in total. You will have access to your individual apartment which includes WI FI. There is lots of free street parking available and a small bistro area at the top of the stairs which is great for reading, sipping tea, or taking in some sun.
I am very close so I can be as available as you need me to be. If I'm not at the building, I am just a phone call away. Most days, I work from home so I am pretty easy to catch.
I love this neighborhood! I fell in love with it when I lived in the Bay Area and visited a sorority sister from college that lived here. Who knew that just 5 short years later I would move here and become a part of this community!
A very short ride from LAX and 30 minutes from Long Beach Airport, Leimert Park is a cozy upper and middle class bedroom community. This area remains a cultural hub for the African-American community though the area continues to become more and more ethnically diverse. Our neighborhood is full of charming bungalows and Spanish Colonial Revival style houses on quiet streets lined with tall gorgeous trees.
Leimert Park is considered the center of the contemporary African-American arts scene in Los Angeles. One prior notable resident, filmmaker John Singleton, called it "the black Greenwich Village." It has hosted flourishing blues and jazz clubs, venues for hip hop, and theaters for numerous dramatic performances and poetry readings. Project Blowed is the longest running hip hop open mic in the world, started in 1994 by Aceyalone and friends. It is hosted by Kaos Network, and held every Thursday night at 43rd Place and Leimert Boulevard.
With the advent of great local merchants such as SoleFolks, you have a spot to get your sneakers cleaned during your stay, catch a catwalk fashion show or just shop for some really cool Leimert Park gear.
Leimert Plaza Park is home to the landmark cascading fountain, and a drum circle that convenes every Sunday.
Post & Beam is a fine dining restaurant owned and operated by world famous chef, restaurateur, and Top Chef Masters competitor, Govind Armstrong. I highly recommend you try this place known for its contemporary and elegant take on classic soul food favorites.
We're just a short walk from Eso Won Bookstore, Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Facility and the brand new Papillon Art Gallery.
We are also about 10 minutes to LA Live which hosts a variety of clubs, bars, eateries and entertainment venues including the Congo Room, The Grammy Museum, and is next to the Staples Center where you can catch a LA Lakers or Kings game, and to the LA Convention Center.
Famous residents include(d) John Singleton, Tavis Smiley, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, and former Los Angeles Mayor, Tom Bradley.
Los Angeles is definitely a town for cars, however you can still navigate the city pretty easily. Leimert Park is a great location that is close to just about everywhere.
We are about a 10-20 minute drive to the Staples Center, LA Convention Center, Venice Beach, Hollywood, a host of beaches, and LAX airport.
You can take a quick 15 minute walk to the Metro Expo Line, Crenshaw stop, which takes you directly to Downtown Los Angeles or USC to the East and Culver City to the West. USC is a short 5 min drive or a 10 min bike ride.
You can also transfer from the Metro Expo Line:
- To the Red Line and go to Hollywood and Universal Studios
- To the Gold Line and go to Pasadena
- To the Blue Line and go to Long Beach
- To the Big Blue Bus and go to Santa Monica Beach or UCLA

This unit can get HOT IN THE SUMMER!!! It's an older classic building so there is no central air conditioner. If you melt in the summer months like a gummy bear on a hot dashboard, this may not be the best place for you. However there is a portable air conditioning unit, a ceiling fan and a portable fan for your use to keep cool and works great for the majority of guests. Temps begin to drop and cooling down on hot days usually begins between 3:30 and 4:30.
All amenities are subject to availability. Firepit and heat lamp are subject to propane availability. Sometimes there are weather issues, repairs, upgrades, and other things beyond control of hosts. Thank you in advance for your understanding!
I expect that YOU will be staying in the home for the trip you request. If I suspect that someone is staying other than you for part or all of the trip, or it is any situation other than the one you present initially, AND I am uncomfortable with it, you may be charged for the additional guest and you/they agree to leave upon request and no refunds are available. Just be honest and up front! Chances are I can work with your situation.
Air Mattress is queen sized, provided upon availability, and must be completely deflated and returned to its bag upon use or we can take care of it for a $50 fee.
*Access to the wood doors are controlled by August Wi-Fi locks. You must download the August app to control access from your cell phone. Some guests are comfortable using the iron door only, some use both the iron door and the wi-fi lock door. It is up to you. You should receive a communication inviting you to the lock automatically, but if you do not, please let me know and I will send you a link or code directly.
*Please do not leave exterior lights on during the day or air conditioning on when you are not home. If I am at the building and notice that a porch light is on during the day or an air unit is running without anyone being in the apartment, I will enter to turn them off as I do not charge for this level of utility usage in my rates.
*No unauthorized parties. If you have a party or gathering of any sort that we have not previously discussed, you may likely be asked to leave. If you are asked to leave, you agree to vacate without delay or incident.
*If you will arrive at night, please let me know and I can leave lights on for you as it gets pretty dark on the street.

STREET SWEEPING!!!!
Please be careful to move your cars for street sweeping to avoid getting a ticket. Here are the days and times:
WEDNESDAYS - From 10 - 12 noon, do not park across the street.
THURSDAYS - From 10 - 12 noon, do not park on our side of the street.
Large black trash bins are in the back of the building if you need to empty your trash cans. There is also a blue recycling bin.
*If you are visiting anytime between June and August, leading up to and after the 4th of July, you may hear fireworks in the evenings as some nearby residents get an early start on the festivities. On the 4th of July there are many events around the city where you can watch fireworks displays or you can hear the sounds of the centennial celebrations right there in the apartment. It is very loud and festive!
*You are welcome to play any of the games as they are for your enjoyment! Just please take care of them and return all of the pieces, cards, etc and return to its place when finished. All of the videos, games, pieces, music, etc. belong to my home. Please, kindly, do not take them.
